BCQS is very excited to begin offering classes, workshops, and lectures in coordination with our Quilt Show and throughout the year. We will have guest instructors with something of interest for everyone. Please participate in these events as much as possible to support the show and improve your skills. Check out our Instructors, and invite your friends to join you. Non- guild members are welcome for a small additional fee or they may join a local guild or the BCQS to save money when interested in participating in multiple events. Come and join in the fun! Please read the “General Event Information” before enrolling.

Come meet our two judges for the 2026 Black Canyon Quilt Show and get a sneak peek of the “Best of Show” Quilt and “Judge’s Choice” Quilts.

Penny Notes, Hand Embroidery

In this class you will hand embroider a cover for a notebook. Charisma will teach you the different stitches to complete your cover and then use them again in your quilts.

Biography
Charisma Horton is an award-winning professional longarm quilter, prolific pattern designer, fabric designer, and nationally recognized teacher. Her work spans a wide range of styles—from charming, folksy hand embroidery to bold, colorful modern quilt designs—reflecting her passion for creativity and craftsmanship.
Based in Deer Park, Washington, Charisma lives on a homestead with her husband and their vibrant family of six children and several grandchildren who lovingly call her “Oma.” Her quilt studio is a unique and joyful space: a renovated horse barn she transformed and painted pink—true to her signature style.
Charisma’s designs have been featured in numerous publications, and her approachable teaching style has inspired quilters across the country. Whether she’s behind a sewing machine, designing fabric, or sharing her knowledge through classes and retreats, Charisma brings warmth, skill, and a deep love of quilting to everything she does.
